Rachel McKay Steele is an Associate Creative Director and writer who left Brooklyn and bagels for sunshine and Los Angeles. She genuinely loves writing.

She started her career in independent film and later worked in creative development at RadicalMedia before moving into advertising. She’s since worked at Ogilvy, TBWA\Chiat\Day New York, and Saatchi & Saatchi, among others, writing across broadcast, digital, social, radio, print, and experiential.

She’s drawn to creative that feels human. Funny things. Sad things. All the things that make you feel things.

Outside of advertising, she writes and performs comedy. She was a Just For Laughs Stand-Up & Pitch finalist, and her solo show Shiva for Anne Frank ran at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The Scotsman wrote: “There is so much potential for what Steele has created here to end badly, but the fact that it hits every mark throughout is a real tribute to the thoughtfulness and quality of the writing.”

Her feature script Adult Bat Mitzvah received a Jewish Writers’ Initiative Grant, was named to the Athena Film Festival’s Athena List and the WScripted Cannes Screenplay shortlist, and is currently in development with Burn Later Productions.

She has studied improv at UCB and WGIS, and clown with The Pandemonium Studio and The Elysian. She performs around Los Angeles with her all-women improv team, Pyramid Scheme.

She also loves novels, hiking, and her cats, Roxy and Esther. She is an intrepid defender of the Oxford comma but will defer to your brand guidelines.
